Introduction to mathematical modeling
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the field of mathematical modeling. In particular, we will explain some fundamental models for the study of epidemic spread and evolution.
Instructor: Wajid Ali, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom
Modelling epidemics
This course was jointly taught by Wajid and Golsa. The focus of this course was to introduce mathematical models in various areas of biology.
Fundamentals of mathematical modelling (Wajid Ali): This was the first talk in this series. Wajid introduced mathematical modelling in biology with the help of fundamental models such Malthus (exponential model) and Verhulst (logistic model).
SIS epidemic model (Wajid Ali): In this talk, Wajid introduces mathematical models of epidemic and introduces the deterministic SIS model.
SIRS models of infectious diseases ( Golsa Sayyer, University of Szeged, Hungary)
